Microforest Plantation Manager internet Evaluation Version

Evaluating Microforest Plantation Manager internet is an easy four-step process. The four steps are listed below. Please note that the steps must be completed in the correct sequence for the successful operation of Plantation Manager internet.

Step 1: Download the PMi User Guide.
Step 2: Download & Install the .NET Framework 2.0 (Optional).
Step 3: Install the Microforest Application Launcher.
Step 4: Login to PMi.

Step 1: Download the PMi User Guide.

PMi Getting Started.pdf

The file is approximately 1 Mb in size.

The following installation instructions and detailed information on how to use PMi are included in the User Guide.

Step 2: Download & Install the .NET Framework 2.0.

PMi requires Microsoft’s .NET Framework to function (version 2.0 or later releases). The .NET Framework is a component of the Windows operating system and will be installed on most machines by default, but this should be confirmed prior to installing the PMi.

You can check to see if you already have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed by clicking Start on your Windows desktop, selecting Control Panel, and then double-clicking the Add or Remove Programs icon. When that window appears, scroll through the list of applications. If you see Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 listed, a compatible version is already installed and you do not need to install it again.

If the .NET Framework 2.0 is not already installed, you can download it directly from Microsoft or from here:

.NET Framework 2

The file is approximately 23 Mb in size.

Step 3: Install the Microforest Application Launcher.

As its name suggests, the Microforest Application Launcher is the utility required to start the PMi application. The utility manages the updating of PMi as well as its deployment.

The following prerequisites are required:
  • .NET Framework 2.0
If these components are already installed, you can launch the application now. Otherwise, click the button below to install the prerequisites and run the application.
Install the Microforest Application Launcher

(The installation will add a shortcut to the Start Menu, and the application can be uninstalled via Add/Remove Programs if required)

Step 4: Login to PMi

Please note you will need a Username and Password to login to PMi. Contact Syndicate Database Solutions (support@syndicate.co.za) or your company’s Microforest Administrator to obtain login credentials.

Once you have been issued with login credentials, begin by selecting the required application from the list in the drop-down menu, for example, ‘PMi Demo’.

Once the required application has been selected, launch it by clicking the Start button at the bottom of the box.

If your organisation is using an internet proxy (server), you may need to contact your Network Administrator for its credentials, then click on the Edit button to the right of the drop-down menu and enter the information in the fields provided.

Similarly, if you need to add the details of a new application, click on the Edit button and enter the relevant details, as supplied by Syndicate Database Solutions or your company’s Microforest Administrator.

The Message Box (grey panel) provides details of the activities being carried out by the Launcher and their status.

The Progress Bar just above it shows how much of the application has loaded using grey blocks that advance towards the right.

Please note: you will need to use the launcher every time to access PMi to ensure you are working with the most up-to-date data.

Once the Microforest Application Launcher has checked for all relevant updates and successfully launched the PMi application, you will be presented with the login screen.

To login, enter your Username and Password in the fields provided and click on the OK button below.
